About AAIM

It is time to submit your articles, your practice management tips, your stories about fascinating cases, and your autobiography to be published in JAAIM-Online, The Online Journal of the American Association of Integrative Medicine.

Article Guidelines

Articles should be about subjects that pertain to alternative healing and wellness, new procedures, new findings, life styles of people using alternative therapies, the integration of “traditional” and “alternative” methods in practices, and any other subjects that bring knowledge and insight into the world of alternative medicine.   Articles should follow these guidelines:

  • Be 500-3,500 words long.
  • Be typed and double-spaced with one-inch margins on all sides.
  • Include a title page with the article title and the author’s name, degrees, and affiliations.
  • Be written according to the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (if the articles contains in-text citations).

Appropriate articles will be sent for blind peer review. Following the review, authors will be notified if their articles have been accepted as is, accepted with changes, or rejected. If articles are accepted with changes, authors may be asked to submit revised manuscripts for publication.

Practice Management Tip Guidelines

Good practice management skills can help us overcome the increasing challenges to compete as health care providers. They can also help us increase our client base, increase our revenue, and offer patients more. There are many issues inherent in practice management, and we at the American Association of Integrative Medicine strive to provide our members with the tools and techniques to deal with these issues.   Please help your peers by sharing your practice management tips through JAAIM-Online.   Practice management tips submissions should follow these guidelines:

  • Provide at least 1 practice management tip, but the more the better.
  • Include your name, degrees, affiliations, designations, the name of your practice, and a description of how you discovered the practice management tip(s) you are sharing.
  • Include examples of how your tips have impacted your practice.

We would also like to include a section in JAAIM-Online about fascinating cases.   At AAIM we understand the need for broader treatment options.   That being said, we would love to feature cases where “alternative” medicine or a mix of “traditional” and “alternative” medicine has saved the lives of, alleviated the chronic pain of, or drastically altered the life of a patient. To submit a story about a fascinating case, please follow these guidelines:

  • Provide a story that is at least 400 words.
  • Provide dates of the case.
  • Provide your name, degrees, affiliations, designations, and the name of your practice.
  • If possible, include photographs or quotes from the actual patients. (If you are going to provide a picture, please contact me for the guidelines.) NOTE: You may change the name and dates of the case(s) to protect confidentiality as necessary.

With the help of you, our members, we can offer an educational newsletter that will help health care providers who use integrative approaches for healing receive the recognition they deserve. However, we will need continuous contributions, which means that regular contributions from members will be welcomed. If you would like to contribute to JAAIM-Online but have questions, call me toll-free at (877)-718-3053 or send an e-mail to me at kelly@aaimedicine.com.   Submissions should be sent to me as attachments via e-mail.   I look forward to working with you. Together we can make JAAIM-Online an educational source for all AAIM members.
